SEBI stand for Securities and Exchange Board of India. It is the regulatory and governing body for investment markets in India. It is established in 1988 to protect the interests of investors locally and globally of those whose invest in India. It would have never been possible to gain such fundamentally strong Indian markets with out Securities and exchange board of india. It plays a vital role in bringing all laws to protect Indian investors. Since its establishment, many major laws and regulations are brought in to act. Functions of SEBI:

It reviews on market operations and administrative control of exchanges
Registration and regulation of intermediaries work
Promoting and regulating self regulatory organizations
Prohibiting fraudulent and unfair trade practices
It conducts investor education and training programmes
